Reservations for the Tea Ceremony and Kimono Experience
★Guests staying at sakura la an can take a look and take pictures inside the tearoom for free
★Tea Ceremony (chanoyu) Experience 1 hour / up to 5 people
Fee: ¥2,500 (for hostel guests: ¥1,500), inclusive of tabi
Participants will be provided with a pair of white tabi (足袋 traditional socks) to wear. They will approach the tearoom with a tsukubai (蹲 stone washbasin) near the entrance and enter through a small, square door (躙り口 nijiriguchi). An instructor will serve usucha (薄茶 thin tea) and sweets in a style called otemae (お点前), and participants will be asked to perform the otemae themselves. Cancellation Policy
★Tea Ceremony (chanoyu) and Kimono Experience 6 hours / up to 4 people
Fee: ¥6,000 (for hostel guests: ¥4,500), inclusive of rental kimono
Participants will receive instructions on how to wear a kimono before the start of the tea ceremony. With the assistance of an instructor who will demonstrate and provide step-by-step instructions, participants will learn how to put on a kimono. They will then attend the tea ceremony and can later go out still wearing the kimono within the time limit.
For men, kimono and hakama (袴 traditional trousers) are available.
Hairdressing is not provided. Participants with long hair can either tie or put up their hair.
